Khan With the Wind

Following is a story that aired last night by WBTV's Molly Grantham. Molly has done an excellent job of reporting on the goings on of one Samir Khan. Khan, you will recall has a history of blogging from Charlotte about concepts like Jihad, suicide bombings, etc. Well guess what, he has left Charlotte, traveled to Yemen and launched an al-Qaeda publication. Charlotte always wanted to be a world class city, well congrats, we have made the big time.

Charlotte man reportedly editing Al-Qaeda magazine
By Molly Grantham

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Three years ago, WBTV spent weeks tracking a then-22-year-old Charlotte man writing a pro-Jihad blog from his parent's north Charlotte home. Soon after, his site was shut down.

Sources now say that man, Samir Khan, is in Yemen. National reports say he is the author of the first al-Qaeda online magazine in English.

It is a flashy and slick publication. It shows you how to make a bomb from kitchen items. There are articles reportedly written by Usama bin Laden. Anti-American sentiments are throughout its 60-plus pages.

The government is aware of this publication. It was first brought to the attention of the general public late last week.

The magazine is called "Inspire".

By Monday night, both CNN and FOX News were reporting that Samir Khan flew to Yemen on a roundtrip ticket but has yet to come back. Both quote high level government sources which say he is the new author of this al-Qaeda magazine.

Give Obama A Dollar, He'll Give You Back Some Change

In case you missed this I am re-posting from US News and World Report below. White House Press Secretary gives an peek inside the mindset of the Obama White House. Apparently not all people "deserve" to keep the money they earn.

Re-post from US News and World Report:
Gibbs: No Tax Cut Extension For Those Who Do Not "Deserve" Them Asked, on NBC's Meet The Press, if Democrats will "let the Bush tax cuts expire, in effect creating a tax hike on Americans," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs answered, "The President is not going to, at a time of economic crisis, raise taxes on the middle class," but "for those that weren't asking for them when they got them and didn't necessarily either need or deserve them, they're not going to have their tax cuts extended. ... For middle class Americans, who have borne the brunt of this economic calamity, we're certainly not going to raise taxes on them."

Janet Napolidontknow

Last week, Rep. Sue Myrick issued a letter to DHS Sec. Napolitano asking her to set up a task force to investigate potential Hezbollah activity along the southern border. The Charlotte Observer wrote an article about Sue's request. Their article revealed a troubling statement from DHS. One of the spokesmen for DHS when asked about Sue's letter claimed ignorance of any such potential threat. But get this, this week a Kuwait newspaper, al-Sayassah released an article citing Mexican authorities themselves, as claiming that Hezobollah is attempting to set up a base of operations along the southern border. Sure sounds like Sue Myrick was right, doesn't it? Keith Oberman of MSNBC had previously criticized Sue Myrick for her request of a task force to study the issue. I wonder how he takes his crow?

The following is reposted from PipelineNews.org:

Border Alert - Hezbollah Support Structure Broken Up By Mexican Authorities

July 7, 2010 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNew.org - Demonstrating the necessity of sealing the United States' Southern border is news reported by the Kuwait based al-Sayassah newspaper, detailing a successful move by Mexican security officials to break up a sophisticated Hezbollah support network operating out of the troubled country.

The plot was led by Jameel Nasr, a frequent visitor to Lebanon, who was arrested at his residence in Tijuana. [source, Jack Khoury, Mexico thwarts Hezbollah bid to set up South American network, Haaretz, July 7, 1010, http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/mexico-thwarts-hezbollah-bid-to-set-up-south-american-network-1.300360]

U.S. based national security researchers have long noted the increasing presence of Iran's proxy army Hezbollah in Latin and South America, especially in Hugo Chavez' Venezuela.

In one of many articles appearing about this matter on these pages, in April we noted:

"According to a just released DOD report made available to Congress, the al-Quds force, the elite core of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, has markedly strengthened its position in the Venezuelan stronghold of dictator Hugo Chavez. Al-Quds has been deeply involved in Islamic terrorism for decades including the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut and the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, which was home to many American defense workers in the region." [source, Pentagon Study Sounds Alarm - Iranian Al-Quds Force Presence in Venezuela Increasing, PipeLineNews.org, April 21, 2010]
Earlier this year Representative Sue Myrick [R, NC] warned of the increasing relationship between Hugo Chavez and Iran.

"US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) today released a video about the need for the State Department to designate Venezuela as a Special Interest Country, and the importance of securing our borders. Rep. Myrick has also signed on as a co-sponsor of House Resolution 872, which calls for Venezuela to be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism for its support of Iran, Hezbollah, and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC)." [source, Myrick Releases Video On Designating Venezuela As A Special Interest Country, http://myrick.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=22§iontree=21,22&itemid=401]
The danger represented the establishment of a Hezbollah beachhead South of the border, further complicates team Obama's representation that the border is more secure than ever and the corollary claim that illegal immigration is all about poverty stricken Mexicans fleeing to the U.S. in search of work that Americans won't do.

It seems that in its haste to compartmentalize this thoroughly politicized issue, the administration is ignoring the significant national security threat posed by a border which is porous to Islamist operatives funded by one of the world's chief exporters of terrorism, Iran.

Obamamnesty

Earlier today, President Obama gave a speech at American University where he basically threw up his hands and gave up on border security. Calling it "unworkable", he outlined his plan to grant amnesty to the illegal aliens currently living here.

I thought I would give a few thoughts on his speech.
First, I am sick and tired of advocates for illegal immigration blurring the terms "immigrant" and "illegal immigrant". There is only one reason to do this, to put opponents of the policy on the defensive by making it appear we are against "legal immigration." I am for legal immigration, but am dead set against illegal immigration. I believe most Americans share this belief. I think most Legal immigrants do as well. President Obama's interchanging of the words is intellectually dishonest and he should be ashamed for doing it.

Second, the President referred to the eleven million illegals who are in our country. When did the number become only eleven million? We were using numbers well over 20 million back during the Bush administration. I know the economy is bad and some of them might have gone back across the border, but I'm going to call BS on this one and suggest that the number might be a lot higher than the 11 million the President is citing.

Third, did I hear correctly when the President said that the "Southern border is more secure now than it's been in the last 20 years?" Unbelievable. Drug cartels running rampant along the Southern Border. Shootouts in the streets of Arizona with illegal alien cartel members and the President feeds us that line? Seriously? Was his TelePrompter broken? Does he actually believe that? Or is he just trying to get us to believe it?

Fourth, he mocked Arizona's attempt to deal with this issue and said that their needs to be a national standard with regards to enforcing illegal immigration. I actually agree with him here. But here is the problem. The current national standard is a joke. I will remind you of the following facts. Under the Obama administration, with regards to enforcing illegal immigration: Administrative arrests are down 80 percent, criminal arrests are down 68 percent, number of criminal indictments are down 74 percent and convictions are down 75 percent. Talk is cheap, but action counts. The President's actions show that he is either not interested in protecting the sovereign border of the United States of America, or not capable. In either case, his failure to act is tantamount to a dereliction of duty in his role as Commander in Chief.

Fifth, he said that the enforcement efforts of a fence and border patrol are not workable. Really? How would he know? Has tried to enforce the border yet? To date, his administration has only built 344 miles of fence along the 2,000 mile border. The Secure Fence Act required 800 miles of fencing. How can he mock the fence for not working, when the damn fence is not built yet?

The President is supposed to protect the sovereignty of the United States. President Obama is giving ours away.
